Volunteering with the Chase Legion
Volunteering with the Chase Legion plays a vital role in preserving the well-being, dignity, and history of Veterans and their families. It keeps our branch strong by supporting programs like remembrance events, community outreach, and assistance for those who served, many of whom rely on volunteers for companionship, advocacy, and practical help.
In small communities, these efforts also strengthen local bonds, create shared pride in military heritage, and ensure that the sacrifices of Veterans remain honoured in meaningful, everyday ways.
Volunteering for events and fundraising is especially important because these activities keep our Branch vibrant, visible, and financially strong. Events bring the community together to honour Veterans, share stories, and build intergenerational connections, while fundraising ensures the branch can continue offering essential supports such as Veteran assistance programs, remembrance initiatives, and community outreach. When volunteers step in to help with food service, meat and 50/50 draws, ceremonies, and other events/activities, they help sustain the Legion’s mission and create welcoming spaces where service and remembrance remain part of everyday community life.
Volunteer Hours for Students
Community involvement, including volunteerism, will assist students to meet eligibility criteria when applying for post-secondary scholarships, bursaries and community awards. Volunteering at the Chase Legion or other non-profits will lead to personal growth by developing transferrable skills such as leadership and communication. Additionally, volunteer hours will also provide credits towards graduation.
Helping Strengthen Our Community
Volunteering strengthens a small community by creating real connections between neighbours and filling gaps that limited local resources can’t always cover.
When people give their time and skills, they help keep essential programs running, support vulnerable residents, and build a shared sense of pride and belonging. Even small acts such as helping at events, checking in on elders and coaching a youth team add up to a more resilient, caring place where everyone feels invested in one another’s wellbeing.
Supporting our Veterans through volunteering the Legion matters because it turns gratitude into practical help, ensuring those who served are not left to navigate challenges alone. Volunteers make a direct impact by assisting with outreach, organizing support programs, coordinating transportation, or simply offering steady companionship – small actions that help Veterans feel respected, connected, and remembered. These efforts also strengthen the wider community by keeping the stories, sacrifices, and traditions of service alive, creating a culture where honouring Veterans is woven into everyday life.
