Community Involvement
Giving back through volunteering
Our work at the community level includes outreach and assistance programs for Veterans and their families. It also includes offering supports for seniors and families in need, organizing commemorative ceremonies and promoting Remembrance, and more.
Through our fundraising activities, Branch 107 has been actively involved in giving back by providing essential financial assistance to the community and area organizations and services.
A place to connect
Over the years, we have become a community hub providing our members, guests and neighbours, a friendly social place to gather and feel connected. We pride ourselves on inclusion and providing a welcoming atmosphere to all who pass through our doors.
We offer a hospitable atmosphere where people can get together for meals, darts and pool, meat and 50/50 draws, cribbage, and other events and activities for everyone, of all ages and walks of life to enjoy.
Supporting youth
Branch 107 promotes Remembrance to the younger generation and works with schools and youth organizations to keep the memories of our Fallen Veterans alive. We also support youth leadership programs and activities such as Cadets, Scouts and Guides, and youth sports, helping build the next generation of leaders.
Working with the community
As a partner of the Together Chase initiative, Branch 107, is committed to fostering collaboration and community well-being through collective action and activities with other community organizations. By working collectively with businesses, other service organizations and volunteers, we are coordinating our resources and efforts to accomplish a greater impact and promote a stronger sense of community.

Donations
Your participation in our meat draws, 50/50, raffle baskets and silent auctions adds funds to our charity account.
We support many local non-profits in Chase, Sorrento and the North Shuswap such as food banks, fire departments, schools and the health foundation.
You can also make direct donations to branch operations. These funds would help with general upkeep of our building, such as plumbing, decking, flooring, and upgrades.
Community Venue
We offer our space to the community.
We supported the evacuation of Parkside Seniors Residence during their fire in 2023. We hold memorials for both members and non members. Our newest endeavour is with Chase and Family Services with one of their summer programs. It helps that we have both air conditioning and an elevator. We hold a coffee house from September to June every second Sunday, Giant Crib on the first Sunday and are looking to bring in bingo. We are open to other ideas.
Bursaries
Branch 107 is proud to offer bursaries to deserving and eligible local students to assist them in completing post-secondary education.
Bursaries normally range from $500.00 to $1000.00 and are awarded to successful applicants who will attend accredited learning institutions, including universities, colleges, and vocational or trade schools. Branch 107 accepts applications from both students graduating from secondary school and adult learners as long as they reside in our service area!
Branch 107 bursaries fall into two categories – Poppy Fund and charitable bursaries. Poppy Fund bursaries are intended for eligible Veterans, as well as the children, grandchildren or great-grandchildren of eligible Veterans who are in need of financial assistance. Charitable bursaries are intended for other applicants from within the service area.
Applications must be made in writing, and applicants must provide proof of full-time enrolment for at least two consecutive semesters in a qualifying learning institution. Contact Branch 107 for more information about our application processes.

Remembrance
Remembrance is a solemn duty of the Royal Canadian Legion. Working with local governments, community partners, museums, historical societies, regimental associations, and the families of Veterans, Branch 107 strives to both preserve the memory of the fallen as well as to support and enable those Veterans living among us.
The annual Poppy Campaign is the most visible symbol of the Legion’s efforts to promote Remembrance, but it is not the only such activity. For example, Branch 107 maintains a record of the Veterans of our service area, both of the living and of those who have passed on. Although by no means complete, this record grows a little each year, and members of the community are encouraged and welcome to contribute to our efforts.
In addition, Branch 107 fosters our recollection of the military history of our region by organizing and providing a uniformed presence in events such as ceremonial activities, community activities and parades. Similarly, we endeavour to enhance the understanding of the sacrifices made by our military and Royal Canadian Mounted Police forebears through education programs and public speaking engagements.
Further, the sacrifices of the Veterans of our communities are recognized each June 6th during the Veterans’ Dinner, an event that Branch 107 is privileged to host. Finally, we support the Remembrance Day ceremonies of the communities within our service area, thus ensuring that the lives laid down by members of the Canadian Armed Forces and the RCMP in the service of our nation are not forgotten.
